Objectives:
This project focused on the design, development, and optimization of web platforms to support Rutgers University’s marine and coastal science research, public education, and grant-funded initiatives. The objective was to deliver scalable, compliant, and user-centric digital solutions that supported multimillion-dollar grant projects, advanced academic research, and enhanced public engagement.
Key accomplishments included leading the UX/UI and full-stack development of platforms in collaboration with NOAA, NASA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Weather Service—enabling state, federal, and global research initiatives. The digital environment was transformed by migrating five legacy systems into a centralized WordPress CMS, streamlining content management and improving performance.
A high-impact marketing site was designed and launched in under two weeks to support a $100M MacArthur Foundation grant proposal, demonstrating speed, technical precision, and design leadership under pressure. In parallel, interactive training modules were developed in Blackboard to support marine field research programs, while a blended learning solution was designed for hurricane safety training—combining digital content with instructor-led instruction.
Throughout the project, accessibility and compliance were top priorities. All platforms were developed in alignment with ADA/WCAG standards, improving usability for all users while boosting SEO and institutional reputation. Cross-functional collaboration with faculty, marketing teams, research groups, and external stakeholders ensured that all digital efforts were aligned with Rutgers' academic mission and research goals.
Photography, video editing, and media production were also integrated into the platform development to bring scientific stories to life and increase community engagement.
